Context

A Meccan surah of 4 verses, Quraysh is closely linked to the previous surah (Al-Fil) and mentions the privileges granted to the tribe of Quraysh, the Prophet's tribe.

Main themes

Quraysh recalls the covenant of security that this tribe enjoyed for their winter and summer trade journeys, and invites them to worship the Lord of the Kaaba who feeds and protects them.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

لِإِيلَـٰفِ قُرَيْشٍ

For the accustomed security of the Quraysh1 -

2
إِۦلَـٰفِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ ٱلشِّتَآءِ وَٱلصَّيْفِ

Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer1 -

3
فَلْيَعْبُدُوا۟ رَبَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ

Let them worship the Lord of this House,1

4
ٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْعَمَهُم مِّن جُوعٍ وَءَامَنَهُم مِّنْ خَوْفٍۭ

Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
