The Relief
•8 verses
A Meccan surah of 8 verses, Ash-Sharh (or Al-Inshirah) was revealed as a continuation of Ad-Duha to strengthen the comfort given to the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Ash-Sharh announces the opening of the Prophet's heart, the lightening of his burden, and the promise that with every difficulty comes ease, repeated twice for emphasis.
Repeat with your child the verse 'With hardship comes ease' to make it a family mantra in the face of challenges.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Did We not expand for you, [O Muḥammad], your breast?1
And We removed from you your burden1
Which had weighed upon your back
And raised high for you your repute.
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease [i.e., relief].
Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
