A Meccan surah of 8 verses, At-Takathur was revealed to warn those who are absorbed by the race for wealth and material possessions.
At-Takathur warns that rivalry in accumulating possessions distracts mankind from what truly matters until they visit the graves. It announces that everyone will be questioned about the blessings they enjoyed.
Teach your child that the most precious things are not toys or money, but faith, family, and good deeds.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
Until you visit the graveyards.1
No! You are going to know.
Then, no! You are going to know.
No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...1
You will surely see the Hellfire.
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.1
Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.1
